Summary

This week has been awesome! Learning experience for me wasn´t just about rural bussinesses and entrepreneurship. I´ve also learned a lot about myself and got to know some very great people :) I think it´s as important (if not even more) because who you are means what you can accomplish! I´m going to cherish those memories forever and hopefully we´re going to meet again! Best wishes to you all :)

Wednesday + Thursday

So it has been a very productive week so far.. We´ve got to know some local businesses, heard a lot of presentations about different countries and organisations, done some active sports and visited the local area. So On wednesday we tried to solve some problems that we got from the local businesses we visited. Our group was trying to figure out what would happen with White Haywood farm & restaurant if something would happen to Pauline or Philip. I think everyone did such a great job with the information and the knowledge they had. Everyone got something from the presentations and hopefully we gave them some great prospects and ideas for the future. In the evening we had a great walk to the Malvern Hills. We got to see a lovely view from the top. Unfortunately I haven´t got a chance to upload pictures from my phone so I don´t have any visual material for you to see but you can google it :) Or I can google it :)
On thursday we visited the local town and it was great to get out and do some shopping! I was terrified that I wouldn´t be able to walk back up the hill but luckily Nick came to save us with the minibus :)

Tuesday

Yesterday we visited some local businesses that were very educating and interesting. I especially liked the one - White Haywood Farm Restaurant and B&B. So I´m going to give you a quick overview of that. White Haywood Farm Restaurant and B&B is a licensed Farmhouse Restaurant with Bed & Breakfast accomodation run by Pauline and Philip Goodwin and their family. It is set in a 400 year old barn at the foot of the Black Mountains near the Olchon Valley in Craswall, South-West Herefordshire.
The Goodwins rear their own beef and lamb for using in ther lunches, dinners and speciality dishes in the restaurant. They also select the best local produce to compliment their meals which are freshly prepared and cooked in Pauline´s kitchen. The food is really delicious and simple. We visited the restaurant and had a taste of their lamb. It reminded me of home and was a really good change from all the typical English food we´ve been having here in Malvern. Here´s a picture of the Restaurant
I really liked the design of the Restaurant. Pauline and Philip have done a great job in decorating the building. We didn´t get to see the B&B part of the restaurant but here´s a picture of one of the rooms The restaurant is open in Summer on Wed, Fri & Sat 12-3pm 6late with reservations welcomed all other days. Thursday ChipShop 5-7.30pm. In winter (october - easter) the restaurant is open with only reservations. The restaurant holds 'Local Food Champions' Award for 2011/12.

Monday

So.. here we go again.. Today is a brand new day and I´m going to talk about entrepreneurship because today we shared some great ideas about it and I´m going to share them with you. So basically.. what you need to become en entrepreneur is an IDEA! That´s the first thing you need.. If it´s a good one it will work out! You´re gonna have to figure out a business plan for yourself and present it to some investors or people who can help you to take it forward. It helps to know the right people, but if you don´t, that´s fine too - you will! All you need is a little confidence to keep on going and support from your family and friends. Do some research and learn what others have done to help you gain new ideas. If you´ve done all that, you should be fine! Just be brave and don´t give up!

Second day

So.. time to get serious.. or maybe not :) Today I´m going to talk about who I am and where I come from. My name is Ade (as you already know, but cannot pronounce) :D and I come from Estonia - a small country where internet is everywhere.. I mean..literally EVERYWHERE - even the forests have reception :) As you already saw from our presentation - Estonia is very small - you can drive from one end to another in less than 4 hours. This is why I have no problem with going to my grandmothers place every weekend although it is at a different end of the country. We are very keen to our culture and we love our national patterns (at least I do). Even in the airport we have an "Estonia corner" where we have chairs that look like Muhu skirt (Muhu is an island in west Estonia).
I am a leader of a 4H club in Harju region of Estonia. As you may know 4H is a youth organisation with the mission of "engaging youth to reach their fullest potential while advancing the field of youth development". The name represents four personal development areas, which the organisation focuses at: head, heart, hands, and health. The moto of the organisation is: Learning by doing! Hopefully during this week I will gain some confidence and gain some great ideas from others! And mostly just have fun and enjoy myself! Stay tuned for tomorrow :)
